This is Katie and Micah! They were married right on the coast where the redwoods meet the beach! It was a simple and beautiful wedding! You can just tell they are so much in love!
Katie and Micah are college sweethearts! They met through mutual friends – even had a few classes together – but didn’t fall in love until they took a summer river float trip together. They fell in love on that river and have never looked back.
Katie and Micah wanted to have a handmade wedding that reflected their home state, California, and their love for the beach. Katie is an artist and made many of the lovely details for their wedding and reception. She even put together all the flowers…
…including her amazing bouquet! The flowers were hand chosen by Katie the day before from Sequoia Floral.
She created original hand-drawn art which Micah incorporated into their invitations and their wedding webpage.
As any bride will do, Katie surrounded herself with beautiful women to help her get ready for her big day!
Katie’s dress is simple, yet elegant.
She’s such a beautiful bride! I love the floral crowns…yes, she made those as well!
You can’t miss the love on Micah’s face in this shot…how’s this for a first look?
This was such a great group to photography; they were so much fun…the light in the redwoods was magnificent that afternoon! I couldn’t get enough of it!
Love those guys in their rainbow sandels!
Having the beach as the backdrop for their wedding was quite important to Katie and Micah. It was on the beach that Micah FIRST proposed to Katie. Micah had arranged another romantic evening and when the sun set, he dropped to his knee and asked her to be his wife. Katie admits she was caught off guard and in her excitement, didn’t hear his thoughtful speech because she was crying too hard. She had to ask him to repeat it for her later!
The couple had their parents choose the spot where they exchanged their vows. From three choices, they chose Goat Rock Beach for the nuptials. Katie and Micah exchanged their personal vows in front of the great rock and then walked down the aisles lined with ribbons and flowers.
After the seaside wedding, everyone gathered back at a friend’s home for a lovely reception. The details were lovingly crafted by Katie and Micah, with some help from family and friends.
The moms insisted on a cake…Micah and Katie wanted ice cream sandwiches!!
Katie and Micah managed to put together an amazing DIY wedding. There are a few people they’d like to thank for helping make their day extra special: JC from KIN Catering and Dominic from Premier Productions.
