The 5 strategies to market your services vs marketing products!

To actually be different than everyone else out there is not actually that hard. You are born different and there is no one else out there like you . That is what makes life so interesting and special. However, when It comes to showcasing your talents and making yourself and services stand out online and on social media, to be different is sadly a totally different thing. It is easy to look around at what all your competitors are doing and copy them or mimic what they are doing, thinking “Hey, if it works for them, then it should work for me.” But that is not going to work. If anything, it just becomes spam and makes you blend in there more than anything else.

The number one thing you need to know to stand out on social media that no one will tell you!

Social media is like a sea of information. Great content mixed with spam and things that are not relevant at all. It is probably everyone’s number one time sucker and it's easy to get lost, unconsciously and unintentionally, getting sucked in. Standing out on social media is getting harder and harder by the second. You can’t just post something. You have to post something remarkable and inspiring, that is also short and easy to ready in 10 seconds or less.

So why is it so hard to stand out on social media? Do you find yourself saying or feeling?

"There are so many people doing the same thing as me, how am I  going to easily and quickly show that I can do it better?"

"Social media takes too much time. I barely have enough time to edit all my photos."

"This is all overwhelming, I do not even know where to start."

"I do not feel comfortable putting myself out there so much and acting like I know what I am doing."

The Ultimate Guide to your San Francisco City Hall Wedding

I just love shooting city hall weddings! They are more than just a fancy way to elope these days. They are a no fuss, chic and modern way to celebrate your love.

I could spend hours talking about the amazing couples I’ve met at city hall over the years, but I won’t. Instead, I thought I’d share what I’ve learned about city hall weddings over the years.

A city hall wedding is a no-fuss, budget friendly event

There are many reasons for having a city hall wedding: stage fright, terminal illnesses, complicated family situations, just to name a few. For some couples, it’s a matter of time and money. For others who might want to take a non-traditional approach, city hall weddings are quite open-minded and flexible.

How to attract and find your ideal client **FREE WORKBOOK**

Not only is your ideal client someone you would love to work for and be around, but it is someone who would love to hire you.

But how do you know who this person is and where are they hiding?

When I first started out I was hungry and I took any client I could. I was just so happy someone actually wanted me to take their picture, that I did not care who they were or what they wanted. I even let them negotiate with me so much that I would actually be losing money on the job!

Looking back, not only was this a disservice to me and my son, who also likes to eat, but this was an even bigger disservice to the actual client. I could not afford to take my time and do a good job. I was exhausted and could not do my best work.

If you are walking into a situation where you are not being appreciated, you are not going to be doing your best work either. However, I was not confident enough to charge what I needed to. No one tells you how to do that.  They just say,  "Identify your target client and go find where they hang out and go do that..."  It took me years to truly figure out how to do this, or what this even meant. I understood it in concept, but in reality it  was a very vague concept and I was very vague about who I was attracting. Think of asking your 18 year old self what your husband is going to be like….“Well, he is going to be really good looking, make good money, really love me, want to spend all his free time with me, and not complain when I shop to much.”  Well, that is a good start, but let’s face it...that is not really exact. I almost fell asleep writing that, so you might even be asleep now!

Free instagram Course for professional photographers!

I get so many questions about my Instagram. You see, about a year ago I only had 900 followers. Most people I had already known from Facebook and high school. But no “fans” or people who would potentially want my photography services.

I wasn’t getting any interaction on my Instagram. No one would like my photos and I definitely was not getting any bookings from Instagram or even any acknowledgment. I would see these other people with so-so photos and info, and they would have a ton of likes and comments. I did what any mature and rational person would do, and with my hairdresser Sara, chalked it up to them buying likes and followers with one of those apps.

You see, once I hit 900 followers I kind of hit a plateau and my followings stopped. My Instagram was basically stagnant. If I did get likes and comments it was either someone who was trying to grow their Instagram account, or just spam. No one was even excited enough to email me for my pricing!

Jeff and Meighan met about 2 years ago on OkCupid…I know, a dating site that actually works!! They quickly connected over their shared love of running, yoga, and great food. On their first date, they shut down a Palo Alto restaurant with a four-hour dinner! When Jeff walked Meighan back to her car, he was surprised to see it full of roses – they were for a school event the next day. (Meighan is a high school teacher and the roses were for “prom-posals”!
